Karina provides solution-focused therapy, leadership and career coaching services to individuals, groups, and organizations.

Karina provides humanistic & solution-focused psychotherapy and leadership empowerment coaching to help women understand their thoughts and feelings, gain a sense of their meaning in life, and reach self-actualization.

Do I really need therapy? I can usually handle my problems.

Everyone goes through challenging situations in life, and while you may have successfully navigated through other difficulties you've faced, there's nothing wrong with seeking out extra support when you need it. In fact, therapy is for people who have enough self-awareness to realize they need a helping hand, and that is something to be admired. You are taking responsibility by accepting where you're at in life and making a commitment to change the situation by seeking therapy. Therapy provides long-lasting benefits and support, giving you the tools you need to avoid triggers, re-direct damaging patterns, and overcome whatever challenges you face.    

Therapists can provide support, problem-solving skills, and enhanced coping strategies for issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, unresolved childhood issues, grief, stress management, among other challenges.

Do you accept insurance? How does insurance work?

We do accept some insurances and can provide you with an itemized receipt to send to your insurance for out-of network reimbursement.

To determine if you have mental health coverage, the first thing you should do is check with your insurance carrier. Check your coverage carefully and find the answers to the following questions:  

  • What are my mental health benefits?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?
  • How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

Is therapy confidential?

In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and psychotherapist. No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client. However, there are some exceptions required by law to this rule. Exceptions include:  

  • Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse. The therapist is required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person. The therapist is required to notify the police.
  • If a client intends to harm himself or herself. The therapist will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, additional measures may need to be taken.

What is Coaching? Do I need a Coach?

Coaching is a thought-provoking and strategic process that motivates the client to maximize their personal and professional potential.

A Certified Professional Coach is a highly trained personal facilitator & guide who can help you identify and uncover what keeps you from reaching your fullest potential. It is a one-on-one relationship that provides a supportive and non-judgmental space to help you create what you want for yourself. You can find a Professional Coach to help you strategize and acquire the tools you need to achieve your goals. It consists of steps to help you identify and reframe your thoughts and attitudes. It can also help you break negative habits, acquire new methods of identification, and take action to achieve your maximum potential.


HOW IS COACHING DIFFERENT FROM THERAPY?

While coaching can be therapeutic, it is not therapy. Coaching is distinct from traditional therapy because it is not designed to address psychological issues. While emotional issues may arise, the primary focus of coaching is to help you identify your goals, achieve them, and develop constructive habits and skills. There is little emphasis placed on the past with coaching, but instead the focus is on creating what you want now and in the future. 


WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

We require a 24 hour notice to cancel all sessions. Please be sure to contact us if you will not be able to make your scheduled appointment in order to avoid being charged for the session. 


HOW MANY COACHING SESSIONS WOULD I NEED?

That depends on each specific person and situation. 

Individuals who are interested in self discovery and changing patterns usually commit to a series of sessions weekly or biweekly. There are those who also pay for single sessions  to gain clarity on a specific challenge. 


We offer sliding scale fees per 45-minute session, in addition to packages discounts, which can be discussed during the initial complimentary call. 

You decide which rate applies to you. We accept payment via Venmo, and PayPal. 


Is coaching or leadership coaching covered by my insurance?

No. Coaching is not covered by insurance since it is not a mental health service, rather, you can think of coaching as a personal strategic planning process to help you move from healthy and functional, to accomplished and unstoppable!
